India Simi is a Singer Songwriter from Italy. She began singing when she was 8 years old and has never looked back. She began to play the Bass guitar at 17 and shortly after learned how to play the keyboard as well.
In her youth she was an avid fan of Scorpions and Guns ‘n Roses. When she was 14 she began to appreciate Heavy Metal bands like Metalica, Iron Maiden, Manowar and many others. She also listens to Alternative Metal like Primus and Green Jelly and Progressive Metal like Dream Theater, Elegy and Angra.
As she reached the age of majority, she rediscovered the Classics and listened to the entire Discography of Genesis and PFM, but remained faithful to Contemporary Music through Grunge bands like Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Nirvana and Smashing Pumpkins (who she adores). Not long after, she became a huge fan of The Gathering, The Third and The Mortal. Since she was 20 years old, other than still being a fan of The Gathering, has opened up her spectrum to more musical genres, always leaning more towards Dark and Gothic style tendencies.
About her music, India says:
“I feel a strong need to divulge and express my emotions and to feel that there are other people out there who feel what I feel. I feel the need to express my most difficult moments, to loosen up inner turmoil through my music with the right amount of passion and energy. I write my music during dark times to release that pain I’ve suffered. I need to communicate my way of being to people, I need to feel that there is someone who feels and thinks like me”.
Her project is called IndieSent which refers to her Dark Side. Her genre is Goth Synth Rock which is what characterizes her songs in that they are not structurally defined, but are how she expresses her emotions.
She has also produced a Music CD of Mantra and Chants called “Music of India”
In 5 years time, she is hoping to have published her first 2 albums and gone on a couple of Tours, one as a Supporting Artist and one all on her own. She wants to continue.
